AYURMASTER Scalp & Hair Care

3 overlooked ways to care for your hair.

All three start at your scalp, the skin your hair grows from.

Wash with a shampoo that’s gentle on skin

Many shampoos clean with sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), which dermatology researchers use to irritate skin on purpose in tests. Used every day, harsh cleansers strip the oils and proteins that keep the scalp comfortable, leaving it tight, dry and itchy.

Researchers at Yokohama City University also found that small doses of common cleansers made normal human skin cells age early in the lab. Check your label for sodium lauryl sulfate near the top of the list.

  2. Water falling from a rain shower head against white tiles

    02

    Keep the water lukewarm

In skin tests, the same SLS solution did more damage to the skin barrier at 40°C than at 20°C. A hot shower after a hot day feels great, but lukewarm water is easier on your scalp.

Moisturise your scalp, and shade your parting

Your scalp is skin, and a day in air-con dries it out like the skin on your face. A scalp serum with ingredients that hold water, such as hyaluronic acid, helps it stay comfortable. Your parting also faces the sun all day, so shade it with a hat or umbrella at midday.

How AYURMASTER covers all three

  • A shampoo without sulfates

Scalp Cleansing Shampoo is a cream that cleans mainly with polysorbate 80. In AYURMASTER’s lab tests on human skin cells, it took at least 500 times more polysorbate 80 than SLS to cause the same damage. It doesn’t lather: you massage it straight into the scalp.

  • 18 Ayurvedic herbs

The shampoo and scalp serum contain Ayucelra®-SC, a blend of 18 herbs including amla, bhringraj, gotu kola and sandalwood. They were chosen from 300 Ayurvedic herbs over ten years of research at Yokohama City University, for a healthy scalp environment.

  • Herbs tested batch by batch

Herbs vary with season and harvest, so AYURMASTER tests every batch in the lab before it goes into a formula. About three in four batches don’t pass.
